A light dusting?

Although a bunch of snow was heading toward the east coast, all of the forecasters said that we'd see a dusting, at best. Well...let's just say they were WRONG! This morning it started snowing and didn't stop until late this afternoon. Here's what it looked like when it ended:

Not the most we've seen this year but when we were expecting nothing...well...you get the point.

In our travels today, we saw a water main break. What a day to have to deal with that! Amazing though, it was a lot of water!

Jon and Jake got a little snowboarding in this morning. I was planning to run by there to take a few pictures, but the snow altered those plans! It took a while for all of the new snow to melt off of their boards.

Jake didn't put all of his stuff away (shocker!) so the 'boys' made them selves comfortable in it!

We're being a little lazy tonight and trying to stay warm. I think the high today was 17 degrees...burrrrr!

Not likely! Unless you count staycation in which case I could sooo use a day or two!

Ummm...no! Isn't that a recommendation? (kidding)

3. Why did you start blogging/following blogs?
My friend and I stumbled across a blog or two and thought it was too cool! We thought it was a great way to capture our thoughts and memories and pretty cheap too! ha...the rest is history.

4. Where do you shop for yourself?
Lately, I'm liking Express. Never really gave it a chance before but I'm diggin' it! :)

5. What was the song that you danced your first dance with your spouse to at your wedding...or...what song would you like your first dance to be to?

Our first dance was to Masterpiece by Atlantic Starr. If I were picking one today, it would be Beyonce's version of At Last! Oh how I love that song.

It rained...and rained...and rained!

The forecasters were calling for heavy rain last night into this morning. Well, they got that right! It was tough sleeping between the winds and the down pours! And this is what we woke up to... (thanks Duffy for getting these pics!)

On the way home, I decided to stop and take a few more....7 hours later and clearing skies.

See that rock at the bottom left? It's one of my favorite things I get to see almost everyday....

Isn't that a great reminder?!

Christmas in January, a goal and a birthday!

Duffy's Mom, Dad and Grandma visited this weekend to celebrate Christmas. We had a great time catching up and enjoying lots of good food. From the looks of the fridge it was too much food! ha!

So, Merry Christmas one last time...at least for this winter.

The boys played one of their last games of the season tonight. They lost 2 -1 but that one goal, oh how sweet it was! It was compliments of this little man! Good job Jake!

And a very special Happy Birthday to Miss Kayden! She was one on Friday and I'm sure celebrated all weekend long! Isn't she the cutest?! I know Luanne thinks so too! Right Gigi?

Getting to Know You Sunday!

I would say pancakes! I mean I could go for any of them...but pancakes are my favorite.

2. Dream home..What would it look like?

Oh, it would have a big porch wrapped around the entire house. With a water view of course!

Well, that's easy! Ice hockey, of course!

4. The first word that comes to mind when describing yourself?

Stressed! =)

5. Dresses, pants (jeans, leggings, etc.) or skirts?

Pants...that's what I wear most of the time.

6. What is your favorite time of day?

Evening. That's when I get the most stuff done.

7. Beach or Mountains..which do you prefer?

The beach for sure! Sunshine and water...boats sailing...count me in!

8.Will you watch the Super Bowl?

Yep, probably will!

Wow, that's deep. I guess old without money. Live life, right?!

That'd be Duffy's job! Every Thursday morning...well most Thursday morning's when they show up ;)

I don't think so, not that I remember.

Does the guitar in Band Hero count? 'Cause if it does, I'm starting to rock that...otherwise, no!

A greeting card store for sure! Stock 'em and go home...right Luanne?! :)

Yay...it's Friday!

Can I just say that this week has flown by?! I mean it's been looooong, don't get me wrong but when I try to remember what's happened, it's a blur. So, here we are...it's Five Question Friday!

1. Worst trouble you ever got into as a teenager?

Really, answer that here? Nope, that's not happening. Not here...shew that's like airing my dirty laundry.

2. Are you a morning person or a night person?

I think I'm more of a night person! I mean when I'm really tired I'm pretty much worthless. But I'm much better at staying up than getting up! ha

3. Are you a one-handed or a two-handed Texter?

Well - am I driving? oh that's right, that's illegal! ;) Two handed, I can go faster that way.

4. Democrat, Republican, or Independent..or maybe even Green Party (whatever that is).

Honestly, I don't know. I'm registed as a Repulican but I can't say that I totally agree with any one group. It's all way too complicated these days.

5. Are you a pet person?

Absolutely, without question YES! I love them, they're my furry children after all!

He's 18 today!

I know time goes fast but to think that Jonathan is really 18 today is almost unbelievable! I remember so well the Saturday morning he was born. It was a cold crisp day and I hurried to the hospital to meet him. I sat holding him and staring at him. He was so little! Well not anymore! He's gown into a kid that loves to play ice hockey, loves his Cowboys (that makes me sad ha!), doesn't shy away from a conversation and has dreams to last a lifetime.

Jon, we're hoping you have the happiest day. We love you and want the best for you!

I think I'd have to go with Suzy Q's! Oh my...the chocolate cake with the creamy middle...YUM! They can fix most things.

2. Do you send Thank You's (handwritten or email)?

Depends. I'd prefer e-mail but sometimes it has to be written.

3. If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?

ummm...I don't know. This is hard! ok, I consulted with Julieanne and she thinks The Bachelorette! Reason? Because you'd have all those men catering to you. Funny stuff, huh? A different time in my life...yep, that would work! Ha!

4. What is your favorite online recipe site?

That requires cooking right?! :) ok, ok I guess allrecipes.com

5. If you had to choose: "Friends" or "Seinfeld"?

Oh how I love office supplies! Weird or do you like 'em too? I don't want to call anyone out here, but let's say the nut didn't fall far from the tree - I know others who love them just as much! So, when Luanne told me about an idea she saw to keep lists and thoughts in a journal, I was excited. I mean really, lists and new supplies all rolled into one?! Count me in. And so, I present to you my new handy dandy keep track of things - like everything journal!

Pretty huh? and what's even better are the 200 perfectly crisp pages just waiting to have stuff jotted on them.

I think it'll be fun to look back over the year and see what was so important throughout the months. I could be excited about that - is that wishing away time?

It reminds me of a drawer at my office dedicated to my 'work notebooks'. You almost need a visual to appreciate it but trust me when I say that their spiral spines are all lined up in date order just waiting to be scanned through! Years worth.

Thanks Luanne for the great idea and for the perfectly perfect journal! I really do love it!

A blanket for Mason

In my effort to keep up with things around the house, I decided to organize my closet. I found a small blanket that my grandma had made for Mason not too long before she passed away last year. I pulled it out and put it in the middle of the family room floor to see if it got any attention. It wasn't there too long before....

It's the cutest thing, as soon as we sit down and there's nothing for him to investigate he goes right to his blanket. It's almost like he knows it's his. =) But, I have this saying I'd say to the kids when someone would 'steal' the spot they were sitting...move your feet, lose your seat. Looks like it happens to the furry kids too!

Sure glad I found it...it's been a popular spot!

1. Where were you born?

Frederick, MD

2. Toilet paper..do you crinkle/crumple or fold it?

Oh, I'm definitely a crumpler.

3. What was the last movie you saw in the theater?

'The Blind Side' - what an amazing movie! I cried through most of it and on the way to the car and on the way home! ha!

4. What room do you spend the most time in besides your bedroom?

Well it's not the kitchen! =) at least not yet (remember, I might cook more). Most of my time is spent in the family room.

5. Would you be grossed out if you found out your husband/boyfriend/significant other hadn't brushed their teeth for 4 days and you had been snogging (kissing) them?

Ummm, yeah! Ewwwww

6. Do you fold your underwear?

No! I tried once but I'm pretty obsessed with underwear matching my clothes so that requires looking through for the right ones so folding isn't happening!

7. What is one goal you would like to achieve this year?

Favorite month is easily September! After all, it's my birthday month... Least favorite? Probably March - I'm usually done with winter by then and am anxious for spring!

Hello 2010!

Happy New Year everyone! I can honestly say that I'm really glad to wave goodbye to 2009. Please don't misunderstand we're so very blessed in so many ways. I never forget that and never want to give the impression that I don't know it, because I do! But, it's exciting to have a fresh year! I could take us back through 2009 but all of the important stuff is here. Go ahead, click through and catch up if you haven't already.

We're looking forward to a healthy, happy 2010! We're excited to celebrate Jonathan's high school graduation in May. We're anxious to attend the wedding of Joanna and Kevin in August. Duffy is hoping to get in some good snow runs and even better water ski turns! There are birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate, memories to be made and time to enjoy our simple life!

So from us to you, here's to the happiest, healthiest, most exciting 2010!
